New Reading Nooks at Homework Club

Homework Club began in 2014 with the intent of providing a welcoming and quiet place for students within our community to complete their school assignments while receiving aid from volunteer tutors. Aside from a weekly quiet time to study, participants enjoy access to iPads for learning materials, games, and holiday-specific crafts and activities. 80% of Homework Club participants currently have an A- or higher in two or more subjects and 88% of the participants have improved in one or more subject since participating in the club.

Augusta Communities recently added a reading nook to each of their Homework Clubs. Students can now lounge on plush beanbags with stuffed animals while they complete their assigned reading. The non-profit is also currently working to fill a bookshelf with children’s books for the students to access during Homework Club.
